Accepting Who You Are and Being Proud of It
When you're questioning your gender, it can be really confusing and even scary. Maybe you feel you're not pretty enough to be a girl or don't have the right shoulders to be a guy. Perhaps you feel like you don't fit into either, and you've probably heard people say that "it's probably just a phase, that you'll grow out of it". Whatever the case, understanding your gender is never an overnight thing. It takes time and patience with yourself. Whether this ultimately means coming out or staying closeted, it doesn't matter—what matters is that you find something that feels right for YOU.
It's okay to not be sure about your gender.
It's okay to have doubts about your gender. It's okay to have a hard time accepting your gender. You may not have ever felt like you were a boy, but maybe in the past, you did, and now you don't anymore.
Someday you may think that you will feel like a boy again, but other days it seems impossible to ever happen. If this is the case for you, don't let anyone make you feel guilty about those feelings. They may tell stories of how they knew from their first moment which way they were going on the binary spectrum, but don't feel pressured. You know yourself best!
On the other hand, if you're questioning your gender, just remember that your feelings are valid, and it's okay to take time to figure out what feels best for you. You can't rush the process and force yourself into a box that doesn't fit right. You will find your answer. Once you do, don't let anyone feel like they can "talk you out of it".
Some things just take time.
Transitions come in many forms: some take years while others barely last months before changing again; some decide to get surgery done while others do not; some opt for hormone therapy while others do not, but none of them happens overnight--even if someone claims otherwise!
You don't need to know where you fall on the spectrum immediately. It may take some time for your identity to solidify, or it might never do so. This can be a very confusing time for people. Still, it's important to remember that everyone has their own pace when figuring out their gender identity and expression. The most important thing is that you are honest about who you are in your own mind and then seek support from those who love and respect you no matter what!
Do what makes you happy.
