Women's Union Day: Why it Matters and How to Celebrate It

We stand with women everywhere, celebrating their accomplishments and striving for equality. Here's everything you need to know about Women's Union Day and how we all can celebrate it!

History of Lao Women's Union Day

Lao Women's Union Day is celebrated annually to commemorate the union's establishment in 1955. The Lao Women's Union is a mass organization that works to promote the rights and interests of women and girls in Laos.

In 1984, the Lao Women's Union held its first national congress. This is a crucial point in the union's history since it helped unite its efforts and saw the development of the main plans for its future endeavors. Every five to seven years, the organization has a national congress. The Lao Women's Union now has over one million members, making it one of the country's most powerful social and political groups.

In recent years, the LWU has been working to empower women economically, socially, and politically. They have also worked to end gender-based violence and create an equal society.

Why is Women's Union Day relevant?

Gender inequality is still a genuine issue worldwide. In 2017, the World Economic Forum estimated it would take 217 years to close the global gender gap. That's right — at the current rate of progress, it will take over two centuries to achieve equality between men and women. This is why celebrating Women's Union Day is so important. It helps keep the conversation about gender equality alive and reminds us that there is still much work to be done.

This day is significant because it commemorates the women who fought for our rights — including the right to vote. Celebrating Women's Union Day reminds us of how far we've come and how much further we have to go. It also allows us to celebrate the accomplishments of women everywhere.

As a brand, nami is all about inclusivity and equal gender rights. We strive to create products celebrating women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. We believe all women are beautiful and deserve to celebrate their unique beauty. We aim to empower women everywhere to feel confident — celebrating Women's Union Day is one small way we can help make that happen.
